What the Program Manager, DEI does

This Program Manager, DEI will play a key role in advancing AGU’s mission and our strategic plan objective for promoting and exemplifying an inclusive science culture. The purpose of this position is to lead the operations and planning for the AGU LANDInG Postdoctoral Research Fellows Program (LANDInG-PRFP) including content development, participant engagement, and cohort management.

LANDInG is a major AGU strategic initiative important for advancing AGU’s mission and will provide extensive DEI leadership, training and education for building and expanding DEI leadership across Earth and space sciences . The incumbent in this role will work as part of the LANDInG project team, but with primary leadership responsibilities for this segment of the overall LANDInG program. The Program Manager, DEI will also contribute to other related DEI learning initiatives within the AGU Ethics Department.

This is a full-time, 2-year term position.

* Leads in work to collate, curate, tag, and maintain resources for the online LANDInG Community of Practice (CoP) targeting Postdoctoral Research Fellow participants.
* Leads in attracting, monitoring, and moderating engagement of the LANDInG Postdoctoral Research Fellows cohort participants’ engagement with the LANDInG CoP platform.
* Provides high level support in the LANDInG-PRFP CoP network analysis.
* Serves as the PRFP program manager and primary contact for LANDInG-PRFP cohort participants.
* Leads in data collection towards potential scholarly publications related to LANDInG PRFP.
* Creates and maintains processes and procedures for LANDInG-PRFP cohort participants’ engagement within the LANDInG eLearning platform.
* Works with AGU Marketing and Communications teams to assure proper for LANDInG-PRFP publicity and promotion, including primary author for PRFP annual reports.
* Manages the annual budget for LANDInG PRFP.
* Acts as primary point of contact with the learning management system (LMS) technology vendor to implement improvements related to LANDInG-PRFP, and explores new specifications to enhance the curriculum delivery, and in developing new LANDInG-PRFP curriculum content.
* Serves on enterprise-wide, cross departmental teams to represent LANDInG-PRFP.
* Other duties as assigned.

What the Program Manager, DEI brings to the team
* PhD degree with 1-3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience with an association management system (i.e. netForum), web-conference management software (i.e. Zoom), and a website content procurement preferred.
* Experience in an association, scientific, or technical organization is a strong plus.
* Knowledge of current processes, terminology, and best practices in the promotion of diversity, inclusion and equity in STEM.
* Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and teamwork aptitudes.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate easily and effectively with both internal and external audiences.
* Strong public speaking skills.
* Demonstrated program management skills and success in leading programmatic activities to successful completion.
* Strong computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet, and data analysis software. LMS experience as instructor a plus
* Ability to interpret, analyze, organize and apply program policies, and make good decisions without direct daily oversight.
* Demonstrated training facilitation skills (training, workshops, and group meetings).
* Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Demonstrated skills at leading planning and execution of large-scale programmatic events a must; employment experience in a membership-facing organization strongly preferred.
* Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
* Ability to travel.
