What the NetZero Building Sustainability Coordinator does

The NetZero Building Sustainability Coordinator position is key in assisting AGU to promote discovery in Earth and space science for the benefit of humanity, by being operational in focus.
The purpose of this role is to support NetZero building operations department and AGU staff with developing and implementing the NetZero building sustainability initiatives, including building emergency planning and coordination, safety, wellness and security, and other related projects.
The NetZero Building Sustainability Coordinator reports to the NetZero Building Operations Manager and plays an integral role in maintaining successful building operations.

* Assists the NetZero Building Operations Manager with developing policies and procedures related to the NetZero building sustainability.
* In partnership with the Building Operations Manager, reviews and updates AGU’s WELL, health and safety plan.
* Initiates all certification processes associated with the NetZero building designations.
* Prepares building operational reports, analyzes data regarding progress against NetZero building sustainability goals, and makes necessary recommendations to the Net-Zero Building Operations Manager.
* Showcases the NetZero building through occasional public tours and engagements that highlight the advanced technologies of the building as well as the data that is being generated toward AGU’s NetZero target.
* Supports AGU building WELL initiatives that promote attraction and retention of the building tenants.
* Writes/reviews building related material for AGU website and media inquiries, as requested by the VP of Communications, Marketing and Media Relations to ensure accuracy.
* In support of Human Resources department, conducts the NetZero Building orientation for new hires.
* Assists the Safety Committee Chair with the emergency evacuation protocol and processes; provides training to AGU Safety Marshalls.
* Monitors local and national sustainability and "green building" trends and makes necessary recommendations for building improvement to the NetZero Building Operations Manager as needed.
* Provides general administrative support to the NetZero Building Operations department.
* Assists the NetZero Building Operations Manager on special projects.
* Other duties as assigned.

What the NetZero Building Sustainability Coordinator brings to the team

* Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field with 3+ years of experience in building/facilities management; or equivalent education and work experience.
* Current certification(s) in green building or energy management certificate or working towards one, such as LEED Green Associate, Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and WELLS AP are strongly preferred.
* Previous experience in developing safety and WELL plans is a plus.
* Experience with reporting and data analyzes is a must.
* Previous experience working in a membership organization environment is preferred.
* Demonstrated success with process improvement.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills: ability to communicate effectively and appropriately, responding in a timely manner; speak and write clearly, concisely and with impact.
* Understanding of AGU's organizational culture of honesty, transparency in operations and trust.
* Effective time management and organization skills.
* Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines.
* Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills is a must.
* Ability to work with independently with minimum supervision.
* Excellent computer skills including strong understanding of databases, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
* Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
* Ability to travel.
