What the Geohealth Program Manager does

The Geohealth Program Manager position is key in assisting AGU to promote discovery in Earth and Space science for the benefit of humanity, by being operational in focus. The Geohealth Program Manager will be responsible for developing and organizing efforts related to geohealth across AGU and helping develop a geohealth community by connecting AGU members and efforts to those in allied communities. The incumbent will work with various directorates within AGU to enrich current AGU meetings, develop new meetings, support the editors of the AGU journal GeoHealth, and to develop a broader community around this topic.

* Leads the development of the geohealth network, including identifying and cultivating key partners. Develops a progressive plan for engaging members of the network. Identifies opportunities for engagement and develops, executes/leads a range of geohealth activities and campaigns designed to build understanding of and support for the Earth and space sciences.
* Work with the AGU meeting staff to develop international meeting(s) related to Geohealth program.
* Work within AGU Publications and other departments to support and showcase the journal and provide outreach related to the journal.
* Work to develop an engaged community around Geohealth within and beyond AGU.
* Expand recognition of the topic in current AGU meetings.
* Develop contacts and relations with key thought-leaders across this topic.
* Develop and expand partnerships with other allied organizations.
* Builds collaborative partnerships with other organizations and individuals, including those related to geohealth programs.
* Identifies areas of improvement within the research structure of geohealth programs.
* Participate fully in professional organizations and activities related to their field.
* Other duties as assigned.

What the Geohealth brings to the team
* A PhD degree in a field related to geohealth with related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, ideally with some additional experience beyond the degree.
* Experience in scientific research is a must.
* Experience in managing and driving multiple components of larger projects.
* Demonstrated knowledge of geohealth field, including presentations and publications.
* Ability to project a professional demeanor while interacting with people having diverse backgrounds and professional levels.
* Demonstrated initiative and sound judgment, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Solid editing skills.
* Ability to work within the scientific community and communicate science to a non-scientific community.
* Ability to communicate easily and effectively with coworkers, scientists, researchers, and donors.
* Demonstrated ability to build and work with multiple teams.
* Ability to multitask, effectively prioritize and work well under pressure to meet sensitive project deadlines.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Demonstrated strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Ability to present information concisely and effectively.
* Ability to demonstrate accuracy and quality of work in a fast pace work environment.
* Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
